So yeah..... I forgot to do a Charity of the month for August. So instead, we're going to combine August and September into Augtember? Septust? I give up. Anyway, onto these months' Charity of the month, which is........... (drumroll please......)
The American Cancer Society! September is Childhood Cancer Awareness month, so I'm going to do a spotlight on the charity that hits close to my heart. That is to say, when I was ten years old, I went through cancer. It relapsed at twelve and that's when I had to have chemotherapy. So, instead of this being just one month a year, it'll be annual. Every September (usually it'll just be September not Augustember (is that better?)), the Charity of the Month will be The American Cancer Society. I invite you to share your stories with me, and post on social media with the hastag #childhoodcancerawarenessmonth and tag @SOFAssociation I'd love to see your photos and hear what you have to say. Also, consider donating to this month's Charity of the Month: The American Cancer Society by following the link below. Thank you so much! Have a wonderful Septaugust! (Did I get it right that time?) www.cancer.org/ This month's charity of the month is a highlight on the charity founded by my all-time favorite author. I'll give you a hint, her books are some of the best-selling fiction books in the world. Have you got it? If you guessed J.K. Rowling you'd be right! This month's Charity of the Month is the organization, Lumos in honor of their gigantic fundraiser/giveaway that just ended. It's an incredible non-profit dedicated to saving kids from institutions and orphanages. Did you know that 80% of children in orphanages have one living parent? Yeah, neither did I. It's their goal to find all kids in institutions and orphanages suitable homes and families. The link to donate is www.wearelumos.org/ so please go consider donating to this amazing cause and check some of the incredibly things they're doing!
This month's charity of the month is a highlight on a small charity based in my home state raising money for families who've lost a primary care giver. The Jason Kinzler Family First Foundation was founded by Kristi Kinzler who wanted to help families who went through something similar to her when her husband passed away in 2011 leaving her to raise their 3 children. The website is kinzlerfoundation.org/ so I encourage you to check it out, donate if you can, and raise awareness. We can save the future one day at a time!
